book publication

Here are some resources that you may need for pre-and post-publication of your book.

You will need an ISBN number to sell your book. Go to www.isbn.com to purchase your number. The numbers are sold individually or in lots. After you purchase your ISBN number go to www.bowkerlink.com to register it. If you want your ISBN in a barcode format, you will purchase it at www.bowkerbarcode.com. You can also set up an ISBN logbook there if you purchased multiple numbers.  The logbook will keep track of your book titles and their associated ISBN numbers.

After your book's printed, you should send a copy to the US Copyright Office and have it copyrighted. Get more info at www.copyright.gov. If you plan on submitting your book for submission to the Library of Congress collection, you'll need to apply for the opportunity at www.loc.gov.

If you need some simple help with editing your book, purchase "Elements of Style" by Strunk and White. It is a great mini handbook for tips on grammar and punctuation, and it's very easy to use. Also, consider the book "Blank Pages to Book" which will be sold on this site beginning May 2009. This book offers and simple method for writing your book in only 10 days and for less than $10.00.

Amazon.com for on info about selling on their website. BarnesandNoble.com for info on selling your book on their website and in their stores.
